Symphony of Bled: Elegance and Decay by Tian Plemelj

Bled, renowned for its natural beauty, also reveals its character through its architecture. My exploration captured two notable landmarks: the deteriorating Vila Rikli and the stately Blejska Občina.

Once a beacon of wellness, Vila Rikli now lies in decay. Despite its crumbling state, the villa still whispers of its past elegance, with its graceful structure evoking nostalgia for a bygone era. The villa’s current condition posed challenges during my photography mission. A fence surrounds the building, making it difficult to capture clean shots. However, my iPhone 16 Pro Max assisted me in overcoming these obstacles.

In contrast, Blejska Občina stands firm as a symbol of stability and governance. Its modern and sleek design represents modern architecture in its true beauty. In addition to its modern look, it is also in a remarkable state, which made my job easier.

While taking the photos, I also experienced different feelings. At times, I was really annoyed, especially with the fence around the villa. However, the beautiful pictures that I was able to take made it all worth it and made me feel proud.

These two structures embody a unique duality—one fading, the other enduring—forming a symphony of history, identity, and time. Through my lens, I have sought to share Bled’s quiet, architectural beauty.
